Beauty is in the Eye of...Society?

There will always be something on our body and face that we would like to make smaller, straighter, bigger, or just completely remove.  Body issues have been rising since our media determines what is hot or not.  Since, I've been in Korea, I could not tell you how many people I've came across that has been under the knife or dealt with needles OR the many advertisements posted in the subways, buses, and magazines.

In Korea, they are more comfortable admitting that they had something done.  They flaunt that shit, talking about "Yeah, I got my eyes did, my lips, oh and this nose? FRESH as hell!"  It's become part of who they are.

I went to Lotte World, an amusement park in Seoul and my friends and I were getting in line for one of the rides and there was a chick with her face bandaged up waiting to get on the ride!! I believe she had her nose done.  You can see the bruises around the bandages and her eyes all droopy.  That's when I thought to myself, like damn, these people don't give a shit if people know and clearly nothing will stop her from her daily routines.

American girls get boob jobs for their 18th bday, Asians get eyelid surgery or their nose done.  I have some Korean friends who told me their mothers have brought them to the doctors and said "Fix it." smh.

When you constantly see these ads, you think to yourself like damn should I get something done? I could suck some fat from here and here or plump up the lips.  Plastic surgery clinics are EVERYWHERE and the prices are cheaper here!  The ones that speak English, might be a little tough to find, but Hus'hu in Apgujeong, Seoul is pretty legit.  They have a dermatology and dental clinic in one!  They have services from laser hair removal to teeth whitening to fat graphing.  The staff is really nice, the place gives off a professional, cool vibe, the prices are pretty decent, and the doctors know what they are doing.

Here's their website and FB page.

Should media be blamed or are they simply doing their job?  Do you think it's hard being confident in the world we live in and can you be 100% satisfied with your natural self?

Be happy, Be confident, Be you

Change of Scene

"Messy Apt"

So...after 7 months living in Ilsan, my ass is moving to Pyeonchong.  DYB, the hagwon I work for has different campuses in and around Seoul.  Baegma campus, where I work, is downsizing.  I do both elementary and middle school, but I enjoy and am better with elementary.  Thushi loves the kids :)  haha  Anyways,  I'm always moving and is always the "new kid".  A co-worker made a good point, "You're new at the campus, but you're already established within the school."

This could be answers to my prayers and wishful thinkings.  I wasn't happy with my scheduling-- I freakin' work 6 days a week and no holidays, except Chuseok and Lunar New Year.  Which you can say I'm grinding and with this experience I feel like if I went to another school, it would be a piece of cake.  Pyeonchong branch has about 7 foreign teachers, which is crazy because I'm used to only 3 foreign teachers, which includes me.  Oh and there will be female teachers, so that's great because right now I work with only guys and the other women teachers are Korean.

Honestly, I'm going to miss my loft apartment, Baekseok Yuk, my awesome coworkers--Americans and Koreans, Bus 10!!! oh my gah, Sunny's Bar, and last but not least MY KIDS--all of em.  Wish me luck!
